Numerological Tips for Naming Your Baby
What is the only thing, given to you but used by others?
Too late dummies. The answer is name.
Names aren’t just sound bits or meaningless codes invented for the purpose of identification. Names have meaning, sometimes deep meaning.
According to numerology names can affect a person’s fate. Names can make a person overly creative or disturbingly dull.
So much for Shakespeare’s famous wisecrack.
Naming a baby
Numerologists believe names can have positive and negative effects in our lives. You might want to know how they justify this belief.
Numbers have energy
The claim that numbers have innate energies in them is not scientifically proven. But numerology as a subject is based on this claim. Numerologists believe numbers belongs in a mystic energy spectrum. Each number represents a certain energy range, similar to waves in the electromagnetic spectrum.
When naming a baby, they advise below-mentioned things to keep in mind.
The newborn’s favorable numbers
Every newborn has some numbers that are auspicious for them and some numbers that are not. How can you tell?
From their birth date. The date and time of birth are crucial. Only based off of these details can a numerologist predict a newly born baby’s lucky and unlucky numbers.
Alphabet and computation
Each letter in the English alphabet has a numerical value. A is the first number so its value is 1. Z is the last number so its value is 26. The baby’s name should be one that when the numbers corresponding its comprising letters are added, his lucky number is obtained.
For example, if the baby’s lucky number is 2, his name could be John as J=10, O=15, H=8 and N=14 and when all these numbers are added up, we get 10+15+8+14=47. 47 is 4+7=11 and 11 is 1+1=2. Simple, isn’t it?
Other numerological methods
Pythagorean numerology is different in method but same in result. This ancient variant of numerology only has numbers from 1 to 9. When this method is applied to English alphabet, letters are grouped into individual sets and each set is assigned a number.
It looks something like this:
1: A, J, S
2: B, K, T
3: C, L, U
4: D, M, V
5: E, N, W
6: F, O, X
7: G, P, Y
8: H, Q, Z
9: I, R
The numbers in the word “John” are 1, 6, 8 and 5. If you add them up, you get 1+6+8+5= 20. Add the two digits of 20 and you get 2+0=2. Same results, only the methods are different.
The dos and don’ts
Now you know how numerology calculates the numerical value of a name. What you need to know next are the do’s and don’ts for naming a baby.
The do’s include making the name and the surname coherent – coherence in this context means phonetic compatibility. Second, involve your partner and the elders in the naming process – because their opinions matter too. Third, the name should have a positive connotation to it. Lastly, the name should personify a virtue, an abstract concept or something similar.
Now the don’ts. The name shouldn’t be overly long or overly short. It shouldn’t be inconsequential or overly profound. You can name your child Pip, but imagine him growing up to become a managing director of a Fortune 500 company and being called by a name that domesticated animals have.
Come on, he may be a baby but have some respect for him.
Next in the list of don’t – initials shouldn’t be same letters. The letter the name starts with must be different from the one in the beginning of the surname.
Zodiac sign and names
If you have faith in Indian astrology, consider naming your baby after his zodiac sign. The zodiac sign is called the “Rashi.” Hindu astrology believes every rashi has numbers that bode well and ill for them.
Visit an astrologer and get a birth chart/horoscope for your baby. Horoscopes are formulated based on date, time and place of birth and the rashi or zodiac sign is mentioned there. Among the twelve zodiac signs, each has numbers propitious for natives born under that sign.
Zodiac signs and numbers
Aries’ and Libra’s lucky numbers are 6 and 9, Taurus, Gemini and Virgo’s lucky numbers are 5 and 6, Leo’s numbers are 1, 5 and 9. Sagittarius’ lucky numbers are 3, 5, 6 an 8, Scorpio’s 1, 4 and 7, Capricorn’s 6 and 8, Aquarius’ 2, 3, 7 and 9 and Pisces’ are 3 and 7.
Notice there are lots of crossovers, as in, more one than one zodiac sign can have the same lucky numbers. These crossovers imply compatibility between the signs. Hence, if you want your baby to be obedient and respectful to elders, give him a name the final number retrieved from which is compatible with yours and your spouse’s zodiac signs.
